Frequently Asked Questions
What can I compost?
We accept all food scraps (even meat and bones) as well as BPI-certified compostable plastics. See more about this on our Accepted Materials Sheet.
What areas do you service for food scrap collection?
We currently have curbside service in all of Monroe County. We also service portions of Ontario, Livingston, Wayne, Orleans, Genesee, Wyoming and Yates Counties! Just enter your zip code during the online sign-up, and the system will let you know if we service your specific address.
Can I skip a week of service?
Yes! You can schedule a “skip” using our member portal or by emailing support@impactearthroc.com. You will be credited $5 for skipping a week of service.
Are your bucket liners compostable?
Yes, our BPI-certified liners are made from plant-based materials, making them compostable in our industrial composting system at the farm. We also sell a variety of compostable single-use bags and ziplocks for home use here.
Will I receive compost back?
Yes, each April & May, our curbside, commercial & retail composting customers receive compost soil made from your food waste. The soil that you receive back in 5-gallon buckets is proportional to the service you are receiving. For example, weekly curbside customers receive 2 buckets of soil, bi-weekly & retail swap customers receive 1 bucket of compost. Subscribe to our monthly newsletter or watch for an email in the early spring with additional information.
Can I purchase additional compost?
Yes! Extra buckets of compost soil will be available for purchase at our Lifestyle Store, at 1458 Monroe Avenue.
